Scrapbook Inspiration - Ideas

I have been scrapbooking for many years.  I've gone through so many "inspirational" scrapbooking books and magazines over those years also.  I just kept thinking that these books and/or magazines had just a few things that would interest me each.  I wished there was an album that a lot of things inspired me.  These books and magazines also took up a lot of space for me to keep all of them just for a few ideas.

Then, an idea came to me one day!!!  Why not cut out the scrapbooking layouts that I liked from the magazines and photo copy the ideas out of the books and make my own "personal inspirational" book?

So, that's what I did!!  Here it is!!

I created a binder with sheet protectors.  I started glueing these "inspirational ideas" on cardstock and putting them in the album!!  What a great idea!!!

I have been collecting these ideas for about 8 years.  When I am running low on inspirtaion, I go to this book.

There's probably over 100 sheet protectors in this binder.  Most pages have about 4 different ideas. 

I always find some idea in this book to get me "jump started" on a layout or album.

My Dream

When I was in school all of my friends knew what they wanted to be when they got out of school.  One wanted to be a veterinarian, one a nurse, and so on.  I never knew what I wanted to BE.

However, when I was in 3rd grade I started making and selling bookmarks.  Funny, huh?  Well, it made some money.

Then in the 6th grade I started making friendship bracelets out of embroidery floss.  I had so many different colors!!  I even took orders and made them for classmates.

Then in the 8th grade, I decided to make beaded necklaces and bracelets.  I even took orders and made those too.

In high school, my best friend decided she was going to go to a trade school for her last 2 years of school.  What?  And leave me here!!  I looked at all the classes that were being offered at my home school and nothing appealed to me.  So, on a whim, I went to the trade school too and took the same course she did, Business Technology.

As it turns out, it was the best choice for me.  I had never done so well in school.  I kept a 4.0 both years and was the top in my class at the trade school.  This is also where I met my future husband!! (actually he had gone to my home school and was the brother to my best guy friend, we just hadn’t met yet)
When I graduated I had a job as a secretary for a lawyer.  Some people would think this was a great job!!  Well, it paid the bills, but it wasn’t what I wanted to do!!

I got married, bought a house, had a couple kids, and left the lawyers office.  I got a job as a toddler teacher at a daycare.  Best job ever!!  I was making money, being creative (art projects), and my kids were right there with me!!

I stayed there for a few years until my older son started having trouble in school.  Between talking to the teachers, tutoring him at home, and working full time, something had to give.  I had to quit that job.

Then I became a stay at home mom.  I took care of my younger son during the day and got my older son and a little girl on and off the bus.  Great job!!  While I was at the daycare I had been introduced to scrap booking.  So, now being a stay at home mom, I could also scrapbook.  Yay!!

Then last year, 2013, I decided to start my own business.  I wanted to make premade scrapbooks for people’s photos.  Now I know not everyone is a scrap booker or even really likes scrap booking.  This is the great thing about what I do.  All of my albums are ready for 4 by 6 photos.  So, it’s really not much different for you to put photos in than a regular photo album!!  Okay, well, it is much prettier, and you may use a little glue, but it is really easy!!
Anyways, my first year was great, and I hope this year is even better!!

Unfortunately, my business wasn’t paying enough of our bills, and I had to get a part time job!!  Booo!!  Less time for scrap booking  now!!

I now have a job as a cafeteria worker (lunch lady) at a local school.  Now, I know most of you are thinking, this is a great job in this economy.  Well, it does pay the bills, but it is not where I want to be!!

I have all this figured out, though.  I have calculated how many scrapbook albums I need to sell to make the same amount of money that I am at this job.  Are you curious to know how many I would need to sell a week?

Three!!  Yes, I said, three!!  You know that this is so doable?  I was so excited when I figured this out.  So my goal, right now, is to sell 3 albums a week!!
It has taken me all these years to realize what I am supposed to BE.  It was right in front of my face all along.  I have always been an artist and creator.  Beyond that I am an entrepreneur, I was even back in grade school.

I now know what my calling is!!!  I was meant to scrapbook people’s stories, even my own!!  I believe this is what I am supposed to be doing!!  I am supposed to help people tell their stories through scrap booking.  I am supposed to help them capture and relive all these great memories they have been given!!  This is what I was called to do!!
This is what I’m supposed to BE!!  This is my dream!!

Scrapbook Organization

This is my organization system!!  

It wasn't always this organized!!  It took a lot of time and a lot of years!!

When I first started scrapbooking, all of my supplies were in file boxes and my desk was in my son's closet!!  After a few years, it grew bigger with supplies that had to be put in other boxes on shelves in my son's room.  Lots of boxes, but label so that I could find what I needed!!  I've always tried to organized even if space wasn't exactly available.

Finally I was able to "graduate" to these stacked cubes and move out of my son's room!!  Unfortunatley, I had to move to the kitchen because of lack of space anywhere else.  So, this is my organizational system in my kitchen!! 

There are 15 stacked cubes that lock together!!  These cubes hold ALL my scrapbook supplies!!  Each drawer is labeled with what is inside!!  Some are labeled with a couple themes, to fill each drawer.  This is, by far, the best way for me to organize my scrapbooking stuff.

However, my scrapbook albums, are in various rooms on shelves in my house!!  The scrapbook albums that I am currently selling are in storage bins with bubble wrap in my bedroom!!

Yeah, we need a bigger house!!  As do most people when they have lived in their house for almost 15 years!!  You tend to grow out of it!! (hahahaha)

This is a 12 x 12 premade Once Upon A Time scrapbook album. These pages are already made and ready for your 4 by 6 photos and journaling. There are 20 pages in this album and room for 29 photos and 10 stamped journaling tags with antiqued rhinestone or pearl brads. All mats are doubled and slightly larger than 4x6 to give a nice edge to all photos. This album is FULL of embellishments!!!! These include: 3D stickers, dazzle stickers, skeleton leaves in maroon and cream, paper flowers with brad centers, metal flowers with brad centers, crown brads, metal tags, pieces of frosty lace cardstock, white and brown envelopes, silk pink corners, and white lace corners. Also used is some leatherette paper and glitter paper.

My Wedding/Anniversary Scrapbook Album

My Wedding/Anniversary Scrapbook Album

I made this 8 by 8 scrapbook album for my husband back in 2006 for our anniversary!!!  I wanted to show him how much we had done together in the 10 years that we had been together, not married that whole time, but just together.  So, I chose to title the book,

Inside you'll find a photo of us together for each year, a saying or two, and my written words to him about what happened that year in our life!!

I chose these scrapbook papers very carefully!!  One sheet of the paper has girl saying, one has boy sayings, and then there are the roses for the love we share!!  Very creative, huh?

On each 2 page spread, I recount to him what happened that year.  I do this by starting each phrase with, "Remember...... our ? year together?"

I chose to print the photos in black and white to simulate our past.  The 2006 photo, when I created the album, I chose to do in color.  This was to simulate the present moment in our lives!!

I have continued each year to do a 2 page spread and document what has happened in our lives!!  He loves it, I love it, and it helps us remember things!! Haha!!  We do tend to forget things as we grow older!!

I have been doing these cute little scrapbook albums for years!!!  They are so cute and you can use them for a variety of different things.

I use them myself for my children's school photos and I also have one for each of them for their yearly Halloween costumes.

I have also used these little albums in my cub scout den.  They can be used for so many different things.

I also make them and sell them at my craft shows and one ebay!!  They are actually pretty popular on ebay!!

Here's how you make them:

-Take 3 lunchbags and stack them on top of each other.

-Then fold them in half as one piece.

-On the binding you can punch 3 holes.

-String ribbon through those holes.

-Fill inside with scrapbook paper, just slightly smaller than the edges.  Or use whatever you'd like!!  There's no rules!!  Be creative!!

TIP:  on the edge of some of the pages are an opening.  You can use that opening for tags or other photos to stick in!!

You can also use these little albums for smaller kids to learn their ABC's, shapes, numbers, etc.

My children loved these, mostly because they fit nicely in their little hands.  They carried them everywhere.  They are a great learning tool and easy to make!!!

Decoupage/Scrapbooking Vase

This is a unique techique that I learned from a lady at the church we used to attend.  She taught a few of us ladies the art of decoupage.  That night I decoupaged a wine bottle with nature photos from magazines.  It was beautiful with birds, butterflies, and anything else throughout the magazines she brought that interested me.

It got me to thinking about a project for my mom.  So, I decided to ask this lady for another wine bottle so that I could create one for my mom.  This is that creation!!! 

I decorated it, instead, with old family photos that I printed on regular copy paper.  I also used scrapbook paper.  The photos are of my mom, her mom, her uncle, her dad, and her grandma and grandpa.

I purchased from my local craft store some ribbon, and flowers.  I decided to make it into a vase.  It turned out incredible!!

She loves it and it is displayed on my grandmother's old corner shelf in my mom's living room!!!

I have over 70 premade scrapbook albums currently available for sale of many different themes and sizes on eBay.

I am excited to say that I have about 50 more in the works!!

Spring Break is next week and in addition to spending quality time with my children, I will be busy creating some more fantastic scrapbook albums.

I just wanted to share with you some of the upcoming albums.  Some of these will be available next week.  The others will be available in the next few months as time allows me to do them.
My part time job and being a mom and wife takes up lots of time!!  I create my masterpieces in between those!!

Here is my list of albums to do:

• Once Upon A Time:  12 by 12, kind of a magical fairy tale album.
• Mother’s Day:  12 by 12, I might do 2 or 3 of these, not sure, but at least 1.
• Father’s Day:  12 by 12, at least 1, maybe 2.
• Baby:  12 by 12, neutral themed.
• Baby Boy:  12 by 12, I will be doing 2 of these a bit different each.
• Baby Girl:  12 by 12, just 1 for now.
• Travel:  12 by 12, around the world theme.
• Spiderman:  8 by 8, so excited about this one.  I have been trying to find this album at a good deal for a while now.   Finally found it!!!
• Wedding:  12 by 12 cream colored.  I have a whole lot of others I’d like to do, but haven’t found all the supplies yet!!  I want to do a green and gold wedding, a yellow wedding, a teal wedding, etc.  These will come as I find supplies available!!

So, this is my list of upcoming scrapbook albums!! I also would like to do some 12 by 12, 2 page spreads!!  I know, busy, busy, busy!!!  I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t love it!!!  LOL!!!!

This is a 12 x 12 purple wedding scrapbook album that I just made recently for a client. The pages are already made and ready for 4 by 6 photos and journaling.   There are 20 pages in this album and room for 40 photos on double mats.  All mats are slightly larger than 4 x 6 to give a nice edge to all photos.  The front of this album is silver and is already decorated with flowers and saying, but could hold 4 photos if you wanted.  There are 46 coordinating flowers in purple and white.  Each flower has a silver rhinestone or pearl brad for a center.  Very elegant!!!  There are also 20 tags for journaling. 

The sayings throughout are love sayings and do not have to be for a wedding.  Just people in love.

This is a 12 x 12 premade wedding scrapbook. Pages are already made and ready for your photos and journaling. The album comes in a protective box by K and Company. The album is pure white with a cutout for a photo and is made of a satin-like material. Very beautiful! There are 20 pages in this album done in black, white, and gray. There is room for 38 photos, 10 tags, and there are other small areas for journaling also. All papers, tags, and mats have been inked for extra detail. The solid color papers that were used have a metallic shine to them.(Hard to see in the pictures) All mats are slightly larger than 4x6 to give a nice edge to all photos. Some of the mats are even doubled. Ribbons, brads, stickers and cutouts were also used.   There are also 28 royal blue flowers that are double.  They have either silver pearl brad centers, diamond brad centers, or medium sized silver brads.  There are 14 silver pearl and diamond brads and 14 silver brads.  There are also 25 additional silver medium sized brads holding in tags and cutouts.  All sayings are love sayings.  They do not have to be for a wedding.
